The Gnome picks every story on this page himself, tells you who said it, and tells you where to go check it.

The Anniversary Hub

The room has a calendar even when the sky does not. These are the dates the Gnome files a special record for, every year, with the history beside the noise.

  • June 24: the Kenneth Arnold sighting (1947), the day the phrase "flying saucer" was born. Also kept as World UFO Day by part of the room.
  • July 2: World UFO Day, the other date the room uses; the Roswell Daily Record's "RAAF Captures Flying Saucer" ran July 8, 1947, and the Roswell UFO Festival lands in the first days of July.
  • July 8: the Roswell press release and the retraction, 1947. The festival week.
  • October to November: the AARO annual report window; the page carries the year's date when it lands.
  • May: the Skinwalker Ranch season premieres have landed in May (History Channel); the Cryptid Wire watches the date.
  • Rolling: House hearings every six to nine months by the pattern since 2022 (see /pages/hearings); two surges per hearing, the announcement (five to seven days out) and the day itself.

Each date gets: the record of the year, the Index reading that day beside the reading a year earlier, and one clip. The first-hour drill for a surge day is in the playbook and rehearsed before the first real one.

Dig. Verify. Bring the gem.
