Every fabrication the desk checks during the season gets one line here, with its artifact. The treatment is the REALITY DESK treatment and nothing else: what the record shows, on the artifact itself; claims as claims; the weird OF the election, never the horse race; never a partisan take. If a line here ever tells you who to vote for, the line is wrong and gets corrected at /pages/rights.
1. THE FAKE, as it circulated: the claim in the words it wore. 2. WHERE IT RAN: platform and the day the desk first saw it. 3. THE ARTIFACT: the file itself (video, audio, image, document), its length, its metadata, its provenance chain as far as the desk could pull it. 4. WHAT THE RECORD SHOWS: two sentences, deadpan, from the artifact alone (the record-check rule). 5. STATUS: OPEN (unsettled), FAKE (the artifact is synthetic or altered, with the tell), REAL (the artifact is what it claims; the story around it may still be wrong), MISATTRIBUTED (real artifact, wrong event or time).
